All right, so Edward had had a bit of a celebratory drink to mark the occasion of his moving on into the next stage of his life on Fandom. And then perhaps he'd had another one, and then he'd gone a-wandering, and, well, all that ale made you feel like you were awfully in need of a privvy.
He hadn't meant to trip and fall into a bush. It was just the sort of thing that happened, every now and again. It wasn't supposed to be much of anything important, either, except that when he righted himself, there weren't leaves in his hair - it was hay.
"What in Jaysus' name--"
"Edward?!"
--Nor had he intended to wind up with his face bare inches away from his terrified, distraught mother's this day, either.
"Edward! You're alive!"
Only his mother could make that sound like a celebration and an accusation, all at once.
And lo, the first thought in his head was not a lament, or concern, or shock; it was Ah, now I'm in for it.
